Alström Syndrome UK were instrumental in the setting up and funding of Alström Europe.
ASUK organised the first meeting which took place in Strasbourg, France on the 27th September 2012. ASUK funded a welcome dinner and the first ASEU Directors’meeting was hosted by Professor Helene Dollfus and her team. Thirteen counties have signed up to be part of Alström Europe.
The main aim is to encourage more researchers to be interested in joint research ventures to learn more about this ultra rare condition. ASEU will also encourage patient support groups to start in countries where there is currently no family support.
ASUK will remain actively involved in the work of ASEU to ensure patients and their families have their voices heard at every stage of research development.
